Iris Germanica (Bearded Iris) Radiant Apogee

Iris Germanica (Bearded Iris) ‘Radiant Apogee’ is an elegant bearded iris variety grown for large, ruffled blooms and a strong late-spring show in sunny borders. Its sword-like foliage forms tidy clumps that add crisp structure to perennial plantings, and the flowers are also excellent for cutting. Planted in repeating groups, it creates clear rhythm and draws the eye along paths and at the front of mixed borders.

The plant grows to a height of 80–100 cm (31–39 inches) and produces large, ruffled flowers with a diameter of about 10–15 cm in mixed, bi-colour tones that can shift slightly with light and season. Upright, sword-like foliage forms neat clumps that keep the planting looking ordered even before the buds open. Flowering is typically from late spring to early summer, bringing a bold accent at the transition into the main summer border. Iris germanica performs best in full sun in well-drained soil, with rhizomes set shallow (top at or slightly above soil level) and clumps divided every 3–4 years to maintain vigour and flowering.
