Lily (Lilium) Charlottes Joy

Lily (Lilium) ‘Charlotte’s Joy’ is a compact Pot Asiatic lily from the Joy series, bred for neat, sturdy plants that look polished in containers and small garden spaces. Its cheerful yellow blooms bring a sunny accent to patios, balconies, and the front of summer borders, pairing beautifully with blue, purple, and dark-leaved companions for crisp contrast. As an Asiatic type, it typically has little to no fragrance, making it comfortable near seating areas and for indoor arrangements. This is an ideal “instant décor” lily: one pot already looks finished, while a few pots together create a bright, boutique-style display.

The plant grows to a height of about 40–60 cm (16–24 inches) and produces bright yellow flowers with a diameter of about 14–16 cm. Its sunny blooms sit above compact, dark green foliage on strong stems, creating a tidy, high-impact display in pots, tubs, and front-of-border plantings without adding too much height. Flowering is in summer, and ‘Charlotte’s Joy’ performs best in full sun to light partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil or a free-draining potting mix kept evenly moist but not waterlogged, especially in containers.
