Lily (Lilium) 'Rapid Red' is a vivid Asiatic hybrid lily known for its deep, warm red blooms with terracotta and coppery undertones that glow in the sun. The star-shaped flowers face upward and outward, creating a strong color accent in summer borders and group plantings. With its fast growth and dependable performance, it quickly fills a bed with rich color without requiring complicated care. In bouquets, the saturated red tone looks especially striking alongside crisp whites, pale yellows, and fresh green foliage.
The plants typically grow to 80–100 cm (32–40 inches) and produce large flowers about 15–20 cm across. 'Rapid Red' flowers in early summer (June–July) and forms many buds that open in succession for a longer display. Like most Asiatic lilies, it has little to no fragrance, which makes it a comfortable choice for patios and indoor arrangements. For best results, plant in a sunny spot (light partial shade is also suitable) in fertile, loose, well-drained soil, and avoid areas where water stands after rain.

Istruzioni di piantagione e cura
I gigli sono eleganti bulbi a fioritura estiva, ideali per aiuole, bordure, vasi e composizioni di fiori recisi. Per una fioritura ottimale, scegliere una posizione adeguata e rispettare la profondità di piantagione consigliata.
- Epoca di piantagione: Piantare i bulbi in primavera (da marzo a maggio) o in autunno (da settembre a dicembre). La fioritura avviene generalmente in estate, da giugno a luglio.
- Posizione e terreno: Scegliere una posizione soleggiata o a mezza ombra. Piantare in un terreno ricco, sciolto e ben drenato. Evitare i ristagni idrici.
- Profondità e distanziamento: Posizionare i bulbi con la punta rivolta verso l'alto. Per i bulbi di giglio standard, dimensione 14/16 cm (XL), piantare a circa 12–15 cm di profondità e a una distanza di 20–30 cm l'uno dall'altro.
- Annaffiatura: Annaffiare regolarmente durante la crescita, evitando tuttavia l'eccesso di acqua.
- Coltivazione in vaso: Utilizzare vasi o fioriere dotati di fori di drenaggio e terriccio fertile e ben drenato.
- Dopo la fioritura: Rimuovere i fiori appassiti, ma lasciare che il fusto e le foglie ingialliscano naturalmente prima di tagliarli, consentendo al bulbo di accumulare energia.
- Ritorno ogni anno: I gigli sono resistenti al freddo e rifioriscono ogni anno se coltivati in condizioni ideali.
