Rose ‘James L. Austin’ is a refined garden rose admired for richly coloured blooms and an elegant, classic flower shape. It flowers in repeat flushes, bringing a warm English-rose feel to borders, rose beds, and mixed perennial planting through the season. The blooms also cut well, adding a sophisticated accent to bouquets without needing much styling. For a richer, designer-style palette, combine it with soft apricots, creams, or deep purples.
The plant grows to a height of about 120 cm (47 inches) and produces well-formed blooms with a diameter of around 5–10 cm in rich pink to raspberry tones that may vary with weather and maturity. The strong colour reads beautifully in the border and provides elegant stems for mixed arrangements. Flowering typically runs from late spring to autumn with repeat flushes when spent blooms are removed. Rose ‘James L. Austin’ performs best in full sun (around 5–6 hours of direct light) in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost, with regular watering while establishing, feeding after the first flush, and pruning in late winter to encourage healthy new growth.
