Hollandse irissen zijn elegante voorjaars- en vroege zomerbloeiers, ideaal voor borders, potten en uitstekend geschikt als snijbloem. Ze zijn onderhoudsarm, winterhard en zorgen elk jaar voor een stijlvolle bloemenpracht.
- Planttijd: Plant de bollen in het najaar, van september tot december, voordat de grond bevriest. De bloeitijd valt over het algemeen in mei tot juni.
- Voorbereiding: Inweken is niet nodig. Zorg ervoor dat de bollen stevig en gezond zijn voor het planten.
- Standplaats & grond: Kies een plek in de volle zon. Plant in losse en goed doorlatende grond. Vermijd te natte omstandigheden.
- Plantdiepte & afstand: Plant Hollandse irisbollen, maat 8+ cm, ongeveer 8–10 cm diep en 8–10 cm uit elkaar.
- Bewatering: Geef één keer water na het planten om de grond goed te laten aansluiten. Voorkom dat de grond te nat blijft.
- Kweken in potten: Gebruik potten of balkonbakken met afwateringsgaten en goed doorlatende potgrond.
- Na de bloei: Laat het blad staan totdat het natuurlijk vergeelt en afsterft, zodat de bol energie kan opslaan.
- Komen elk jaar terug: Hollandse irissen zijn winterhard en komen bij de juiste omstandigheden elk jaar trouw terug.
