Lily (Lilium) 'White Balloons' is a sophisticated bulb-grown lily with pure white, generously sized flowers that brighten summer borders. Its clean, luminous color makes it an easy match for both pastel plantings and bold, dark-leaved companions. The blooms are pleasantly fragrant, so it’s a great choice near patios and seating areas. The flowers open from plump buds into wide, star-shaped blooms that look crisp and modern in bouquets. The bright white petals also reflect light beautifully, helping the plant stand out in the garden at dusk.
Plants typically reach about 90–110 cm (35–43 inches) and look best when planted in small groups for a strong, unified accent. Grow it in a sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil (slightly acidic is ideal), keeping moisture moderate and even during active growth. Plant the bulbs about 15–20 cm deep and allow roughly 20 cm spacing for a tidy, well-ventilated clump. After flowering, let the foliage yellow naturally before cutting it back, so the bulbs can recharge for next season.
