Tuotteen Kuvaus - Red Currant Junifer
Red Currant ‘Junifer’ is an early-cropping redcurrant valued for its reliable yields of bright, glossy red berries and excellent garden performance. The fruits ripen early in the season, making it a great choice for extending the soft-fruit harvest and filling the gap before later varieties. The berries have a pleasantly tangy flavour that’s perfect for jams, jellies, sauces, baking, and freezing, and they also add a colourful garnish to desserts. With its neat, productive habit, it fits well into kitchen gardens, allotments, and mixed edible borders.
The plant typically grows to a height of 100 cm (39 inches) and forms a sturdy, branching shrub that produces generous trusses of redcurrants for easy picking. ‘Junifer’ performs best in full sun to light shade in fertile, well-drained soil, and it benefits from consistent moisture during flowering and fruit set for the best berry size. Mulch annually to conserve moisture and support steady growth, and protect developing fruit from birds with netting if needed. Prune in winter to maintain an open framework and encourage strong, productive wood, which helps keep crops high year after year.
