Gladiolus Summer Jewel

Gladiolus ‘Summer Jewel’ is a charming, compact gladiolus with soft pink blooms that bring a light, romantic accent to summer borders. Its slender flower spikes look elegant in the garden and are also perfect for cutting, adding a gentle pastel tone to bouquets. Because of its moderate height, it is easier to combine with perennials and annuals and is less likely to need heavy staking than taller gladiolus types. This variety is ideal for creating bright, airy colour in mid-to-late summer plantings.

The plant grows to a height of 50–70 cm (24–28 inches) and produces graceful spikes of pink flowers that open along the stem through the flowering period. Plant the corms about 10 cm deep and keep roughly 10 cm between plants to create a tidy, even display. Gladiolus performs best in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil; water regularly during dry spells, especially while the flower spike is forming. For a longer flowering season, plant corms in batches at intervals, and lift and store the corms after foliage yellows in autumn if winters are cold.
