Product Description - Dahlia Boom Boom White

Dahlia Boom Boom White

Dahlia Ball Boom Boom White (Dahlia Ball Boom Boom White, Dahlia hybrida cultivar) New! Enjoy the abundance of flowers! This variety belongs to the Ball Dahlia group (group 6). Bred in the Netherlands. It is of hybrid origin. Its dense, perfectly spherical flowers rise on strong stems. Like all dahlias, this variety is ideal for beginners. The inflorescences are double baskets, resembling a ball. The inflorescences are white with a lemon-beige centre. They are smaller than dinnerplate dahlias. They consist of reed and tubular flowers. The petals of the reed flowers are rolled up more than halfway into an upwardly expanding tube. Their tips are rounded. The height of the bushes is about 90 cm. The size of the flowers is 6-10 cm in diameter. The bush is compact. Flowering is long: from summer to late autumn.

Why gardeners love dahlias so much (see photo above). Dahlias are one of the most useful summer flowers and are very easy to grow. As a result, they surprise with a fascinating show. If you know them, you know this. First of all, dahlias are perfect for cutting. They are long-lasting in the cut and are ideal for mixed bouquets. This variety looks good in flower beds, borders and containers. Add to this the varieties of dahlias with pale yellow inflorescences - Boom Boom Red' dahlias. And enjoy their abundant flowering right up until the frost. The flowers attract butterflies. The Boom Boom White variety will feel good in any sunny place. In addition, the planting site should be well ventilated with warm air.

Interestingly, the dahlia is the national flower of Mexico and was named after Dr Andrew Dahl, a Swedish botanist. Dahlia was first brought to Europe from Mexico. It was first grown in the botanical garden in Madrid. From there, it spread throughout Europe. Both Great Britain and Holland were largely responsible for the cultivation of thousands of cultivars.

The "bulbs" of dahlias are actually tubers, and look very similar to the roots of peonies - like a bunch of carrots. The plants grow quickly, and some will grow quite tall, always with lush dark green foliage. Sprouted tubers are planted outdoors in May or early June, after the threat of return frosts has passed. The tubers should be planted in loose and fertile soil, with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction. It is planted in the middle or in the background of the flower garden. It is also suitable for creating a flower hedge (for this, the tubers are planted closer to each other than usual). The planting depth is 15 cm. Planting distance - 50 cm from each other. Planting density - 3 tubers per square metre. If you remove faded flowers in a timely manner, you can prolong the flowering of this dahlia.

Dahlias are heat-loving plants. Therefore, for the winter, their tubers should be dug up and stored in slightly damp peat, in a dark and cool place. Do this at the end of September. Build your collection!

How to Plant - Dahlia Boom Boom White

Dahlia Boom Boom White

Guide and tips for planting canna lily bulbs

  • Choose the planting location: Canna bulbs prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.

  • Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.

  • Plant the bulbs: Dig a hole that is about 8-12 cm deep and place the Canna bulb with the pointy end facing up. Space the bulbs about 36-48 cm apart.

  • Cover the bulbs: Cover the Canna bulbs with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.

  • Water the bulbs: Give the bulbs a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around them. Canna bulbs prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.

  • Mulch the area: Add a layer of organic mulch around the bulbs to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the bulbs to prevent rot.

  • Fertilize the plants: Canna plants are heavy feeders and require regular fertilization throughout the growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks or use slow-release fertilizer at the time of planting.

  • Monitor the bulbs: Canna bulbs typically take about 2-3 weeks to sprout, so be patient. Once they sprout, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Canna plants can bloom in mid to late summer and may require occasional deadheading to promote continuous blooming.
