Product Description - Allium Forelock
The Allium 'Forelock' (Allium 'Forelock') is a unique and highly distinctive hybrid ornamental onion introduced in the early 2000s, celebrated for its unusual, perfectly spherical flower heads 10–12 cm across topped with a dramatic, dark burgundy-purple “topknot” tufts that resemble a stylish forelock hairstyle. The lower half of the globe is composed of hundreds of small, star-shaped florets in soft grey-lilac to smoky mauve, creating a stunning two-tone effect that holds its colour beautifully for weeks.
The plant forms strong, upright stems with semi-glossy, strap-like foliage growing to a height of 90–120 cm (3–4 feet) with a spread of 20–30 cm. Stems are sturdy and weather-resistant. Ideal for adding architectural quirkiness to mixed borders, gravel gardens, or contemporary plantings, and excellent as a long-lasting cut or dried flower.
