Allium Pinball Wizard (Ornamental Onion, Persian Onion, Allium cristophii 'Pinball Wizard'). Huge silver-purple inflorescences will surprise you and your neighbours with their beauty.
Christoph's onion or Persian onion is a spectacular perennial ornamental plant. It differs from other species by its very large spherical inflorescences. They range in size from 10 to 20 cm in diameter. Each umbellate inflorescence contains up to 100 star-shaped flowers. They are purple with a metallic sheen. The flowers are slightly fragrant. Basal leaves are belt-like, grey-green in colour. The stems are ribbed.
Plant height 90 - 120 cm. Blooms in late spring - early summer. Grows in full sun in fertile soil with good drainage. Suitable for creating borders. Ideal for cutting. After drying, the ball-shaped inflorescences retain their appearance. This plant belongs to the ephemerals, but you don't have to dig it up in summer. In moist soil, the bulbs do not rot and are not affected by diseases, unlike other alliums. Frost resistance is high, this plant can withstand temperatures down to -29 ° C. Attention: allium bulbs are supplied in a perforated breathable bag with a label.
