Product Description - Allium Schubertii
Allium schubertii (Allium schubertii), commonly known as the tumbleweed onion or fireworks allium, is a spectacular species from the eastern Mediterranean celebrated for its enormous, exploding starburst flower heads up to 30–45 cm (12–18 inches) across – one of the largest and most dramatic of all ornamental onions. Each head is composed of 50–100 small, rosy-lilac to pale pink star-shaped florets on wildly unequal pedicels (some up to 20 cm long), creating a dazzling, three-dimensional fireworks effect that holds its shape and colour perfectly for 4–6 weeks before drying to an attractive straw-coloured sculpture.
The plant forms sturdy stems rising from broad, grey-green, strap-like leaves growing to a height of 40–60 cm (16–24 inches) with a spread of 30–40 cm. Ideal as a breathtaking focal point in gravel gardens, rockeries, or mixed borders, and outstanding as a dried flower.
