Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Breathless
Size chart
Product Description - Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Breathless
The Amaryllis 'Breathless' is a spectacular large-flowered Hippeastrum cultivar that truly lives up to its name with its watercolor-like tenderness and sophisticated color transitions. It showcases large, symmetrically star-shaped flowers (16–20 cm in diameter) with wide, slightly wavy-edged petals. The color is a delicate pink-coral or rich salmon, accented by a thin network of darker pink veins and a vibrant, star-shaped lime-green center. These flowers bloom in clusters of 4–5 on sturdy, upright stems, creating a luxurious and festive bouquet.
Key Features & Care
- Stunning Aesthetics: Known for its romantic, soft pastel-pink and warm coral undertones, this variety is a premier choice for home decor and floral arrangements.
- Strong Performance: The large bulbs often produce two sequential flower stalks, significantly extending the blooming period.
- Easy Maintenance: Plant the bulb in light, nutritious, well-draining soil, covering only 2/3 of its height. Provide good light, warmth, and moderate watering around the edge of the pot, avoiding the bulb itself.
- Post-Bloom Care: After flowering, remove the stem but continue to water and fertilize the foliage until late summer. In early autumn, cease watering and place the plant in a cool, dark location to rest for 2–3 months.

How to Plant - Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Breathless
Planting & Care Instructions
Amaryllis are stunning indoor-flowering bulbs ideal for indoor pots and as gorgeous cut flowers. They are easy to grow, produce long-lasting blooms, and feature a reusable bulb that can return and flower again when cared for properly.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs indoors from October to February. For best growth, place the pot in a warm room (20–25 °C). Amaryllis generally bloom from December to April, depending on the exact planting time.
- Position & soil: Choose a position that receives bright, indirect light. Plant the bulb in a rich, well-drained potting mix.
- Planting depth: Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards. Plant shallowly so that the bulb is halfway above the soil surface.
- Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist once active growth begins, but strictly avoid overwatering to prevent the bulb from rotting.
- Growing in containers: Use indoor pots with proper drainage holes. Amaryllis prefer to be somewhat root-bound, so choose a pot that leaves just a few centimeters of space between the bulb and the edge of the pot.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but leave the foliage in place. Continue watering and providing bright light so the bulb can store energy for the following season.
- Returning each year: Because it is a reusable bulb, the Amaryllis can multiply or return to flower in subsequent years when left in suitable conditions and allowed a proper dormancy period.
