Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Electra
Size chart
Product Description - Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Electra
The Amaryllis 'Electra' is an exceptionally spectacular, bright, and dynamic variety that lives up to its energetic name. Its primary charm lies in its perfect geometric symmetry and the high-contrast pattern of its petals. On a backdrop of saturated red petals, covered in a dense network of darker veins, a wide white star unfolds, with rays that strikingly run to the very tips. The center of the flower is illuminated by a large, lime-green throat, adding a touch of freshness and three-dimensional volume to the inflorescence. These large flowers, with a diameter of 16–18 cm, bloom in clusters of 4–5 on a sturdy, upright stem, creating a luxurious and cheerful bouquet.
Planting & Care Guide
- Planting: Plant the bulb in a pot so that half or one-third of it remains above the soil surface. Cover the roots with an air-permeable soil mix consisting of turf, humus, peat, and sand, and water generously after planting.
- Blooming Care: During the flowering period, provide bright sunlight and cool temperatures. Begin regular feeding every 7–10 days to compensate for nutrient loss. Water either into the tray or from the side, ensuring water does not touch the bulb itself.
- Post-Bloom & Rest: After flowering, place the pot in a bright, well-ventilated, and relatively warm room. Cease watering completely in September when the leaves dry out, and move the bulb to a dark, dry, cool place to rest for about 2 months.
- Maintenance: Amaryllis are perennials and do not require annual repotting. Replacing the top layer of soil is often sufficient, provided you protect the roots and do not cover the bulb higher than its previous level.

How to Plant - Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Electra
Planting & Care Instructions
Amaryllis are stunning indoor-flowering bulbs ideal for indoor pots and as gorgeous cut flowers. They are easy to grow, produce long-lasting blooms, and feature a reusable bulb that can return and flower again when cared for properly.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs indoors from October to February. For best growth, place the pot in a warm room (20–25 °C). Amaryllis generally bloom from December to April, depending on the exact planting time.
- Position & soil: Choose a position that receives bright, indirect light. Plant the bulb in a rich, well-drained potting mix.
- Planting depth: Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards. Plant shallowly so that the bulb is halfway above the soil surface.
- Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist once active growth begins, but strictly avoid overwatering to prevent the bulb from rotting.
- Growing in containers: Use indoor pots with proper drainage holes. Amaryllis prefer to be somewhat root-bound, so choose a pot that leaves just a few centimeters of space between the bulb and the edge of the pot.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but leave the foliage in place. Continue watering and providing bright light so the bulb can store energy for the following season.
- Returning each year: Because it is a reusable bulb, the Amaryllis can multiply or return to flower in subsequent years when left in suitable conditions and allowed a proper dormancy period.
