Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Imbali
Size chart
Product Description - Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Imbali
The Amaryllis 'Imbali' is an exotic, sophisticated, and remarkably lightweight variety that stands out from classic round Hippeastrum due to its graceful, orchid-like form. The name means ""flower"" in many African dialects, perfectly highlighting its pristine natural beauty. Instead of heavy cups, this variety blooms with airy, elongated petals with wavy edges that gently curl at the tips. A delicate combination of watercolor-pink or rich salmon edges, white axial lines, and a fresh lime-green throat creates an incredibly fragile and elegant look. Typically, 4–6 exquisite blossoms, resembling a flock of tropical butterflies, bloom atop a sturdy, upright stem.
Planting & Care Guide
- Planting: For planting, bury the bulb in a nutrient-rich, well-drained substrate, covering only 2/3 of its height.
- Blooming Care: Provide the plant with a brightly lit, warm location and very moderate watering around the edge of the pot, avoiding getting water directly on the bulb. During the flowering period, begin feeding every 7–10 days to compensate for nutrient loss.
- Post-Bloom & Rest: After flowering, cut the flower stalk while continuing to water and fertilize the leaves until the end of summer. In the fall, stop watering completely and move the bulb to a cool, dark place to rest for 2–3 months.
- Maintenance: Amaryllis are perennial plants and do not require annual repotting. Often, replacing the top layer of soil is sufficient, provided you protect the roots and do not cover the bulb higher than its previous level.

How to Plant - Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Imbali
Planting & Care Instructions
Amaryllis are stunning indoor-flowering bulbs ideal for indoor pots and as gorgeous cut flowers. They are easy to grow, produce long-lasting blooms, and feature a reusable bulb that can return and flower again when cared for properly.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs indoors from October to February. For best growth, place the pot in a warm room (20–25 °C). Amaryllis generally bloom from December to April, depending on the exact planting time.
- Position & soil: Choose a position that receives bright, indirect light. Plant the bulb in a rich, well-drained potting mix.
- Planting depth: Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards. Plant shallowly so that the bulb is halfway above the soil surface.
- Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist once active growth begins, but strictly avoid overwatering to prevent the bulb from rotting.
- Growing in containers: Use indoor pots with proper drainage holes. Amaryllis prefer to be somewhat root-bound, so choose a pot that leaves just a few centimeters of space between the bulb and the edge of the pot.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but leave the foliage in place. Continue watering and providing bright light so the bulb can store energy for the following season.
- Returning each year: Because it is a reusable bulb, the Amaryllis can multiply or return to flower in subsequent years when left in suitable conditions and allowed a proper dormancy period.
