Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Orange Queen - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) Orange Queen
Amaryllis Red Nymph ® (Hippeastrum 'Red Nymph'). New! It belongs to the Amaryllis family, genus - Hippeastrum, group - Special Varieties (Triple Galaxy). It was bred quite recently, in 2001. This attractive plant colours grey everyday life in a short period of time!
It is a bulbous perennial with spectacular flowers. The flowers are huge, double, and have an unusual colour. They are red with a burgundy tint and white markings and specks. The petals are oblong-oval with rounded ends. The flowers are collected in inflorescences, usually 2-3 flowers each. The size of the flower is impressive - up to 25-30 cm in diameter! The peduncle is strong, tubular. The leaves are glossy, belt-like, dark green in colour. The bulb is fleshy, round, slightly elongated. It measures up to 10 cm in diameter. It usually produces two peduncles. Plant height is usually 40-50 cm. The flowering period is January-February (6-7 weeks after planting). Order yourself a gorgeous bouquet! For the best effect, plant not one, but three bulbs in one pot at once.
Postscript. Hippeastrum was first misidentified as Amaryllis equestris by the botanist Linnaeus. Linnaeus's mistake is the reason for the worldwide confusion between "amaryllis" and "hippeastrum".
