Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) 'Ragtime' is a luxurious double-flowered variety that impresses with its voluminous, multi-layered blooms. The flower features rich, velvet-red petals that are densely packed, creating a full, ruffled shape reminiscent of a peony or a garden rose. The deep scarlet colour is occasionally accented by very fine, subtle white margins or tips on the inner petals, which add definition and a touch of sophistication to the heavy, textured flower heads. This variety exudes opulence and is a perfect choice for creating a lavish, romantic atmosphere in winter settings.
The plant grows to a height of 45–60 cm (18–24 inches), developing thick, sturdy stems capable of supporting the weight of its massive double flowers. Each bulb typically produces 2–3 stems, bearing 4 large, long-lasting blooms with a diameter of approximately 18–20 cm. 'Ragtime' is an excellent performer in indoor pots, where its glossy green foliage and brilliant red flowers create a striking contrast, making it a favorite for festive holiday centerpieces.
