Product Description - Asparagus Sirius
Asparagus ‘Sirius’ is a high-yielding, medium-early asparagus variety grown for premium-quality white spears with a tender aroma, buttery texture, and no bitterness. It is valued for stable productivity, dense stems, and strong resistance to rust, making it a dependable choice for long-term harvesting. The spears have an ideal cylindrical shape with tightly closed tips, giving them an especially neat, market-quality appearance. After the harvest season, the plant develops into a tall, airy green “cloud” of foliage that stays ornamental well into autumn.
The plant grows to a height of about 35 cm (14 inches) and is cultivated as a perennial vegetable crop for thick, premium white spears harvested in spring once they reach market size (typically about 5–7 cm tall with a diameter of around 0.7–1 cm). After the harvest period, it develops into a light, decorative, ferny canopy, and later produces very small flowers (0–5 cm category), with flowering typically running from June to July. ‘Sirius’ performs best in full sun on light, deeply cultivated, very fertile soil kept evenly moist; because asparagus can remain productive in one place for 15–20 years, it benefits from regular organic feeding and annual spring earthing up.
