Product Description - Astilbe (arendsii) Peaches and Cream

Astilbe (arendsii) Peaches and Cream

The spectacular Peaches and Cream astilbe will enhance a summer bed with its pyramidal, creamy-pink flowers. It is an excellent choice for a shade-tolerant corner of the garden or flowerbed. It performs well in company with large-leafed hostas, badanum, elderflowers, creating a good compositional group.

Appearance
Astilba is a fast-growing plant, so give it enough space when planting. It thrives best in damp or acidic loams. Its openwork foliage is no less ornamental, changing its colour from green to slightly bronze throughout the spring-summer-autumn season.

Height of the plant: 60-75 cm tall

Height of inflorescence: up to 30 cm

Blossom months: June/July

Flower colour: creamy pink

Plant the young Peaches and Cream rhizomes in early autumn. If the astilbe is planted in a sunnier area, it will be more compact and will bloom earlier. In shaded areas, it will be taller and its flowering period will be longer - up to three weeks.

How to Plant - Astilbe (arendsii) Peaches and Cream

Guide and tips for planting Hosta Bare-Root Plants

  • Choose the planting location: Hosta plants prefer partial shade to full shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.

  • Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.

  • Soak the Bare-Root Plants: Soak the Hosta Bare-Root Plants in water for at least an hour before planting. This will help to hydrate the roots and encourage healthy growth.

  • Dig a hole: Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the roots of the plant. The hole should be slightly wider than the spread of the roots.

  • Place the plant in the hole: Carefully remove the Hosta Bare-Root Plant from its packaging and gently spread out the roots. Place the plant in the hole and backfill with soil, making sure the crown of the plant, where the roots meet the stem, is level with the soil surface. Press down firmly to eliminate air pockets.

  • Water the plant: Give the plant a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the roots. Continue to water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist until the plant becomes established.

  • Mulch the plant: Add a layer of organic mulch around the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the plant to prevent rot.

  • Monitor the plant: Keep an eye on the plant's growth and water it regularly as needed. Hosta plants generally bloom in mid to late summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
