Begonia Pendula Dark Red
Product Description - Begonia Pendula Dark Red
The Pendula Cascade is a spectacular ample begonia that will delight you with abundant blooms. It grows to a height of 25 cm. It has long ascending shoots densely lined with dark green leaves. This delightful begonia reaches a height of 25 cm or more, with long descending shoots densely lined with delicate dark green leaves. The flowers are very beautiful, dark red in colour. They create a mesmerising spectacle. It is quite a large plant, so it needs space. However, in a large hanging basket or other large container you can create compositions of different varieties of ampelina begonia.
This begonia is ideal for window boxes and hanging baskets. You can also plant this plant directly into the ground in May when the frost has passed. It does not like direct sunlight and morning sun. So plant the plant in a partly shaded area away from strong winds. Remove any wilted flowers in a timely manner. Do this regularly to encourage the growth of new flowers and prevent diseases on the leaves. This begonia does not tolerate frost. Therefore, dig it out of the ground if it was grown in the garden and store it in damp peat or sand. If the plant was grown in containers, the tubers are left in the container for the winter. The begonia tubers are planted in fresh, peat soil (after the dormancy period). When planting in the open ground, the distance between the plants is 20 cm. The flowering period is from June to September.

How to Plant - Begonia Pendula Dark Red
Guide and tips for planting begonia bulbs
-
Choose the planting location: Begonias prefer partial shade to full shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.
-
Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
-
Plant the bulbs: Dig a hole that is about 5-7 cm deep and place the Begonia bulbs with their pointed end facing up. Space the bulbs about 15-20 cm apart.
-
Cover the bulbs: Cover the Begonia bulbs with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.
-
Water the bulbs: Give the bulbs a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. Begonia bulbs prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.
-
Mulch the area: Add a layer of organic mulch around the bulbs to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the bulbs to prevent rot.
-
Monitor the bulbs: Begonia bulbs typically take about 6-8 weeks to emerge from the soil, so be patient. Once they emerge, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Begonias can bloom in late spring to early summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
