The large-bulb plant Crinum from the Amaryllis genus Powellii is cultivated both in containers and in open ground. In the southern regions of the country, it can overwinter in the soil under well-constructed shelter. However, more often, the bulbs are dug up for winter and stored at low positive temperatures. Crinum forms a bulb measuring 15 to 25 cm. In its early years, the bulb has a slightly tubular shape. The plant's stem is enormous, about 1 meter long, with clusters of enchanting pink miniature lilies attached to it. The Powellii variety is planted in the ground in April and begins its prolonged blooming—lasting over a month and a half—already in July. This is a true exotic in our gardens. After blooming, the bulb is dug up and sent into dormancy once the leaves have turned yellow.
