About Crocosmiiflora (small flowering) Red King Flowers
Novelty! Crocosmia petitflower cultivar 'Fire King' will add a pop of color to your garden. Its name translates to “Fire King”. And she truly lives up to her name. The gracefully arching stems bear numerous tubular orange flowers that mature to an intense red color. Attractive green foliage provides contrast to the flowers. Blooms in August–September.
Crocosmia small-flowered – colorful exotic! She will delight you with her flowering in mid-late summer. Belongs to the Crocosmia Small Flowering Collection series. The Crocosmia Small Flowering Collection also includes other equally popular varieties of crocosmia or montbretia. These are crocosmia Fire King (red flowers), Red King (with orange-red flowers), Carmine Brilliant (red-yellow flowers). Several named varieties are now available, in a range of hot colors. The height of the plants is 60-75 cm, and the width is 10-30 cm. Growth rates are average.

How to Plant - Crocosmiiflora (small flowering) Red King
Guide and tips for planting crocosmia plants

Choose the planting location: Crocosmia plants prefer full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.

Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.

Plant the bulbs: Dig a hole that is about 4-6 inches deep and place the Crocosmia corms with the pointed end facing up. Space the corms about 6-8 inches apart.

Cover the bulbs: Cover the Crocosmia corms with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.

Water the bulbs: Give the corms a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. Crocosmia plants prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.

Mulch the area: Add a layer of organic mulch around the bulbs to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the corms to prevent rot.

Monitor the bulbs: Crocosmia corms typically take about 2-3 weeks to emerge from the soil, so be patient. Once they emerge, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Crocosmia plants can bloom in mid to late summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
