About Crocus Jeanne dArc Bulbs and Flowers

Crocus Jeanne d'Arc is a stunning and delicate spring-flowering bulb that will add a touch of elegance to your garden or indoor space. Named after the legendary French heroine Joan of Arc, these crocuses are renowned for their pristine white petals with striking violet-purple veins, making them resemble miniature pieces of art.

How to plant Crocus Jeanne dArc?

Plant your Crocus Jeanne dArc in potting mix with the top third of the bulb sticking up out of the soil. Place the pot near a bright window, where it can receive a lot of sunlight. When the bulb sprouts, begin watering regularly around the bulb. After sprouting, turn the pot regularly, because stalks will grow toward the sunlight.

Flowering Period

The enchanting Crocus Jeanne d'Arc typically blooms from late winter to early spring, depending on your location and local climate conditions. These charming flowers emerge from the ground as soon as the frost begins to recede, often appearing even before the last traces of snow have melted. Their delicate blossoms last for several weeks, creating a picturesque carpet of white and purple in your garden or containers.

Guide and tips for planting Iris Perennials Bare-Root Plants

  • Prepare the soil: Iris plants prefer well-drained soil with a pH level of 6.0 to 7.0. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.

  • Choose the planting location: Select a spot that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.

  • Dig a hole: Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the roots of the plant. The hole should be shallow, only about 4 cm deep, and wide enough to spread the roots out.

  • Place the bare-root plant in the hole: Gently spread the roots out and place the plant in the hole. The top of the rhizome, the thickened root-like stem, should be visible above the soil surface. Backfill the hole with soil and press down firmly to eliminate air pockets.

  • Water the plant: Give the plant a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the roots. Continue to water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist until the plant becomes established.

  • Mulch the plant: Add a layer of organic mulch around the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the plant to prevent rot.

  • Monitor the plant: Keep an eye on the plant's growth and water it regularly as needed. Iris plants generally bloom in late spring to early summer and benefit from occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
