Planting & Care Instructions

Crocuses are classic early-spring flowering bulbs ideal for borders, rock gardens, pots and balcony boxes. Low-maintenance and winter-hardy, they bring vibrant color to the garden year after year.

• Planting time: Plant the corms/bulbs in autumn, from September to November, before the ground freezes. Flowering time generally occurs from February to March.
• Preparation: No special pre-soaking required. Ensure bulbs are firm and healthy prior to planting.
• Position & soil: Choose a full sun to partial shade position. Plant in loose, well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water tends to collect.
• Planting depth & spacing: For standard crocus bulbs, size 5/8 cm, plant approximately 6–10 cm deep and 6–10 cm apart.
• Watering: Water once after planting. Keep soil lightly moist, but never waterlogged. Additional watering during autumn and winter is usually unnecessary.
• Growing in containers: Use pots or balcony boxes with drainage holes and a well-drained potting mix. Bulbs can be planted slightly closer together than in garden beds.
• After flowering: Allow the foliage to remain until it naturally turns yellow and dies back. This allows the bulb to store energy for the following season.
• Returning each year: Crocuses are winter-hardy perennials that naturally return and bloom for many years when conditions are suitable.

To guarantee the best result and quality of our plants and bulbs, we dispatch all our orders at the right planting period. We monitor harvests in The Netherlands and weather conditions across Europe and start shipping our orders according to the following schedule:

• Summer Flowering Bulbs (dahlias, gladioli, begonias, etc.) - from 23 March until 1 July.
• Spring Flowering Bulbs (tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, etc.) - from 20 September until 1 December.
• Seeds and Garden Tools – all year round
• Roses, Perennials (except peonies), Bushes and other plants in pots - from 1 March until 1 June.
