Crocus Romance
Crocus Romance - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Crocus Romance
Crocus chrysanthus Romance (Crocus chrysanthus 'Romance'). New! This is one of the most romantic crocuses. Its very name says it all. The flowers are delicate in colour. Lemon yellow on the outside with a darker centre inside. And the most attractive pale grey-blue outer shine makes it a special flower. This crocus is not only attractive, but also reliable. It will delight you as early as late winter.
Other names: Golden saffron, golden-flowered crocus, crocus chrysanthemum. An ephemeral plant belonging to the Cockscomb family. The name of the variety translates as "Romance". This is the firstborn of spring! It is one of the first to bloom, two weeks earlier than other species. That is why it is also called snow crocus. Its graceful flowers break through the snow to meet the warm rays of the sun. They are not afraid of frost, as they contain a lot of sugars in their cells to protect them from the cold.
Appearance
The flowers are goblet-shaped. They consist of six petals. The stigmas are orange in colour. The flowers open on sunny days, and are closed on rainy days and at night. The flowering period is 8-10 days.
The leaves are shiny, narrow, dark green, with a silvery-white stripe in the middle. They begin to grow from the bulb during flowering and fully develop after flowering. The bulbs are smaller in size compared to other crocuses. They produce 3 or more flowers.
Crocus Romance grows up to 7-10 cm in height and 5 cm in width. It is ideal for growing outdoors and in containers. It grows in sun and partial shade, on moderately fertile and well-drained soils. Crocus is planted somewhat denser and to a shallower depth than other bulbous plants (taking into account the size of the bulb). The optimal planting depth is 5 cm. The flowering period is February-March. Having assembled a collection of different varieties of crocuses (with different flowering periods), you can enjoy the continuous flowering of these beautiful flowers for a long time. And crocuses left in the ground will always bloom earlier than those planted last year.
Please note: Crocus bulbs are supplied in a perforated, breathable bag with a label.

How to Plant - Crocus Romance
Guide and tips for planting Iris Perennials Bare-Root Plants
-
Prepare the soil: Iris plants prefer well-drained soil with a pH level of 6.0 to 7.0. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
-
Choose the planting location: Select a spot that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.
-
Dig a hole: Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the roots of the plant. The hole should be shallow, only about 4 cm deep, and wide enough to spread the roots out.
-
Place the bare-root plant in the hole: Gently spread the roots out and place the plant in the hole. The top of the rhizome, the thickened root-like stem, should be visible above the soil surface. Backfill the hole with soil and press down firmly to eliminate air pockets.
-
Water the plant: Give the plant a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the roots. Continue to water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist until the plant becomes established.
-
Mulch the plant: Add a layer of organic mulch around the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the plant to prevent rot.
-
Monitor the plant: Keep an eye on the plant's growth and water it regularly as needed. Iris plants generally bloom in late spring to early summer and benefit from occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
