Product Description - Dahlia Calgary Flames
Dahlia ‘Calgary Flames’ is a vibrant decorative dahlia that stands out with its bright, flame-like colouring, combining lemon-yellow tones with crisp white tips. The showy blooms create a warm focal point in summer borders and look especially striking when paired with purple salvias, airy grasses, or dark-leaved plants for contrast. This variety is valued for its long flowering season and for producing plenty of strong stems for cutting. It’s an excellent choice when you want bold colour and reliable garden performance from mid-summer into autumn.
The plant grows to a height of about 90 cm (35 inches) and produces large blooms measuring 10–15 cm across. Plant the tubers in May, once the risk of frost has passed, in a sunny, wind-sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil. Keep the soil evenly moist (without waterlogging) and feed regularly before and during flowering to support continuous bloom and strong growth. Space plants about 40–60 cm apart (or 30–60 cm in containers) and install a support stake early, as the stems carry substantial flower heads; flowering starts in July.
