Dahlia Melody Bolero
Dahlia Melody Bolero - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Dahlia Melody Bolero
Dahlia Melody Bolero® (Ball Dahlia 'Melody Bolero'). You can't take your eyes off this dahlia from the Melody series! How beautiful it is. It belongs to the group of Ball dahlias (Group 6). It was bred in 1996. Originator: Verwer, Gebr. (Netherlands). It differs from other dahlias by compactness, many flowers in bright colors, and long flowering. It will revive your garden, patio, balcony, and terrace quickly.
The inflorescences-baskets are medium-sized, fully double, and spherical. They reach up to 7-10 cm in diameter. They consist of reeds and tubular flowers. The reed flowers (petals) are the same in shape and length, rolled and tightly packed. This makes the inflorescence unusually beautiful. Tubular flowers are inconspicuous. The petals are deep red. The leaves are dark green, and over time they become red-violet. Bright flowers contrast effectively against the background of the leaves. The bush is compact, upright, and branched. The stems are strong, with lots of leaves. The plant begins to bloom in early summer and produces abundant flowers until frost. The height of the plant is about 50 cm.
Dahlia Melody Bolero® requires a well-lit location. Prefers light and fertile soils with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction. Flowers do not suffer from rain. The bush does not need support. Removing faded blooms prolongs flowering. This variety is perfect in the cut, as it stands in bouquets for a long time. Dahlias are heat-loving plants. They can withstand temperatures down to -5 ° C below zero. Therefore, its tubers are dug up and stored in slightly damp peat in a dark and cool place for the winter. Flowering period: June - October. Attention: If you do not know how to decorate the balcony and are tired of banal pelargoniums, feel free to choose this red dahlia.

How to Plant - Dahlia Melody Bolero
Guide and tips for planting Dahlia Bulbs and Tubers
-
Choose the planting location: Dahlia plants prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.
-
Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
-
Plant the bulbs or tubers: Dig a hole that is about 12-16 cm deep and place the Dahlia bulb or tuber with the "eyes" facing up. If planting multiple bulbs, space them at least 24-36 cm apart.
-
Cover the bulbs or tubers: Cover the Dahlia bulbs or tubers with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.
-
Water the bulbs or tubers: Give the bulbs or tubers a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around them. Dahlia plants prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.
-
Stake the plants: Depending on the variety and size of Dahlia plants, they may need to be staked for support. Insert stakes into the ground near the bulbs or tubers before they start growing to avoid damaging the plant later on.
-
Monitor the bulbs or tubers: Dahlia bulbs or tubers typically take about 2-3 weeks to emerge from the soil, so be patient. Once they emerge, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Dahlia plants can bloom in mid to late summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
