Product Description - Dahlia Taum Sauk

Dahlia Taum Sauk

Flower size: 20-25 cm;

Flowering period: June-September;

Shrub height: up to 120 cm;

Colour: red.

The unusual beauty of shrub dahlias will be the 'highlight' of your garden, flower bed and even a small garden plot. The secret of their attractiveness lies in their pointed, deep red petals. With a single flower size of up to 25 cm, dahlia blooms lushly for long days.

The leaves of the dahlia are a lush green. Like the petals, they extend upwards and have a pointed tip, creating a harmonious composition. In the first autumn frosts, the foliage turns yellow. Gradually withering, the leaves fall off almost simultaneously with the red buds, putting the plant into a dormant state.

The Taum Sauk dahlia is planted in early spring. April or May can be considered the best time for planting. The plant should be pruned as early as 3-4 weeks after planting. This will help to achieve a perfectly shaped shrub, lushness and an abundance of flowers. Dahlias of this variety like regular watering and acidic soil. This is a basic prerequisite as well as easy care for a lush flowering bush.

How to Plant - Dahlia Taum Sauk

Dahlia Taum Sauk

Guide and tips for planting Dahlia Bulbs and Tubers

  • Choose the planting location: Dahlia plants prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.

  • Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.

  • Plant the bulbs or tubers: Dig a hole that is about 12-16 cm deep and place the Dahlia bulb or tuber with the "eyes" facing up. If planting multiple bulbs, space them at least 24-36 cm apart.

  • Cover the bulbs or tubers: Cover the Dahlia bulbs or tubers with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.

  • Water the bulbs or tubers: Give the bulbs or tubers a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around them. Dahlia plants prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.

  • Stake the plants: Depending on the variety and size of Dahlia plants, they may need to be staked for support. Insert stakes into the ground near the bulbs or tubers before they start growing to avoid damaging the plant later on.

  • Monitor the bulbs or tubers: Dahlia bulbs or tubers typically take about 2-3 weeks to emerge from the soil, so be patient. Once they emerge, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Dahlia plants can bloom in mid to late summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
