Appearance and Features
Eucomis autumnalis features a dense rosette of elongated, ribbon-like leaves in a rich green color. From the center of the rosette emerges a sturdy flower stalk crowned with a dense cylindrical flower spike. The flowers are small, star-shaped, typically white or creamy in color. The plant’s main feature is the dense tuft of green leaves topping the flower spike, giving it a pineapple-like appearance. Due to this distinctive characteristic, Eucomis autumnalis is often called the "pineapple lily."

How to Plant - Eucomis autumnalis
Guide and tips for planting eucomis bulbs

Choose the planting location: Eucomis bulbs prefer full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.

Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.

Plant the bulbs: Dig a hole that is about 8-12 cm deep and place the Eucomis bulb with the pointed end facing up. Space the bulbs about 16-24 cm apart.

Cover the bulbs: Cover the Eucomis bulbs with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.
