Eucomis bicolor - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Eucomis bicolor
Eucomis Bicolor (Eucomis bicolor) is an indoor, flowering, greenhouse bulbous plant. It reaches a height of 60 cm. The inflorescence of this flower is most often in the upper third, and consists of up to 100 tiny flowers that bloom gradually, starting from the bottom. Each inflorescence has a thick cap of leaves, which looks like a pineapple top. This is why this flower is also called "Pineapple Blossom".
The flowers are mostly golden green in colour but sometimes with a darker rim. Flowering is prolonged. The leaves of Eucomyss Bicolor are flat, arranged in a ground rosette, up to 60 cm long and up to 7 cm wide.
In summer, pots of 'Pineapple Blossom' can be taken outside and also planted in the open air. The location should be sunny and well drained. But note that if the temperature drops to +10°, the bulbs should be dug up and stored in a mixture of sawdust in a cool, dry place. With its long-lasting blooms and attractive decorations - eucomis is sure to attract interest in every corner of the garden.

How to Plant - Eucomis bicolor
Guide and tips for planting eucomis bulbs
-
Choose the planting location: Eucomis bulbs prefer full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.
-
Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
-
Plant the bulbs: Dig a hole that is about 8-12 cm deep and place the Eucomis bulb with the pointed end facing up. Space the bulbs about 16-24 cm apart.
-
Cover the bulbs: Cover the Eucomis bulbs with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.
-
Water the bulbs: Give the bulbs a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around them. Eucomis bulbs prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.
-
Mulch the area: Add a layer of organic mulch around the bulbs to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the bulbs to prevent rot.
-
Monitor the bulbs: Eucomis bulbs typically take about 8-10 weeks to bloom, so be patient. Once they bloom, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Eucomis plants can bloom in summer or early fall and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
