Freesia Double Mixture
Freesia Double Mixture - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Freesia Double Mixture
Freesia double is a very beautiful, bright and delicate flower with a honey fragrance. This variety has flowers in different shades of red, yellow, blue and more - as well as several rows of petals. This gives Freesia a very special charm. It likes the sun, but cannot stand strong heat or wind. Due to its short stature (35-40cm) it will be ideal for growing in borders or planted amongst low flowers, or in pots at home. The flowers are arranged at the end of the stems in fairly large groups, blooming gradually, ensuring a fairly long flowering time. In addition to the stems, the plant has green, smooth, sword-shaped leaves.

How to Plant - Freesia Double Mixture
Guide and tips for planting freesia bulbs
-
Choose the planting location: Freesia bulbs prefer full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.
-
Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
-
Plant the bulbs: Dig a hole that is about 5-8 cm deep and place the Freesia bulb with the pointed end facing up. Space the bulbs about 5-8 cm apart.
-
Cover the bulbs: Cover the Freesia bulbs with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.
-
Water the bulbs: Give the bulbs a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. Freesia bulbs prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.
-
Mulch the area: Add a layer of organic mulch around the bulbs to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the bulbs to prevent rot.
-
Monitor the bulbs: Freesia bulbs typically take about 8-10 weeks to bloom, so be patient. Once they bloom, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Freesia plants can bloom in spring or summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
