About Gloriosa Carsonii Flowers and Bulbs
Gloriosa carsonia is a beautiful variety of Gloriosa that has attractively colored flowers. It has arrow-shaped petals of chocolate purple and lemon yellow. This type of gloriosis is rare. But it is not as easy to grow as other species. It is native to South Africa and Asia. Other names: climbing lily or flaming lily.
Appearance
This is a perennial tuberous plant that has climbing shoots, beautiful shiny leaves with tendrils at the ends, with the help of which the plant rises “to a height.” A mature plant can reach a height of up to 150-180 cm and produce 12 flowers of exceptional color. This plant grows quickly in warm conditions, blooms, and then has a dormant period.
Planting and Flowering period
Gloriosa blooms all summer. She will be able to decorate living spaces and balconies in a short period of time. Very demanding of heat and light. In the spring, Gloriosa tubers are planted in a container with fertile soil to a depth of 3-4 cm. They are placed in a horizontal position, with the dormant bud facing upward. Gloriosa needs to be provided with timely support: a trellis, a wire arch or a lattice, since it grows quickly and its young shoots are very thin. The size of the tubers is 10-15 cm.
