Product Description - Hosta Blue Vision
Hosta 'Blue Vision' is an impressive, medium-to-large perennial, a selection from Hosta sieboldiana, celebrated for its intense, powdery blue-green leaves that create a bold statement in shade gardens. The large, ovate to heart-shaped leaves are heavily textured, slightly cupped, and corrugated, with a glaucous finish that enhances their blue hue, especially in spring. By summer, the foliage may shift to a deeper blue-green. In early to mid-summer (June–July), near-white to pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers bloom on scapes that are up to 60–75 cm long, attracting hummingbirds and bees.
This robust hosta forms a dense, mounding clump, reaching a mature height of 18–25 inches (45–65 cm) and a spread of 90–120 cm. Its thick foliage offers excellent slug resistance, making it a low-maintenance choice for woodland gardens, borders, or as a specimen plant. 'Blue Vision' thrives in partial to full shade, preferring moist, well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0. It tolerates some morning sun but should be protected from hot afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch.

How to Plant - Hosta Blue Vision
Guide and tips for planting Hosta Bare-Root Plants
-
Choose the planting location: Hosta plants prefer partial shade to full shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.
-
Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
-
Soak the Bare-Root Plants: Soak the Hosta Bare-Root Plants in water for at least an hour before planting. This will help to hydrate the roots and encourage healthy growth.
-
Dig a hole: Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the roots of the plant. The hole should be slightly wider than the spread of the roots.
-
Place the plant in the hole: Carefully remove the Hosta Bare-Root Plant from its packaging and gently spread out the roots. Place the plant in the hole and backfill with soil, making sure the crown of the plant, where the roots meet the stem, is level with the soil surface. Press down firmly to eliminate air pockets.
-
Water the plant: Give the plant a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the roots. Continue to water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist until the plant becomes established.
-
Mulch the plant: Add a layer of organic mulch around the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the plant to prevent rot.
-
Monitor the plant: Keep an eye on the plant's growth and water it regularly as needed. Hosta plants generally bloom in mid to late summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
