Hosta Sorbet®
Hosta Sorbet® - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Hosta Sorbet®
In midsummer, the plant produces bright buds on a tall flower stalk. The purple bell-shaped flowers open in a wave-like pattern, creating a long-lasting flowering effect. The scent of the buds is spicy-sweet.
General appearance
The Sorbet hosta is a neat addition to the garden and will add bright accents to the summer colours. Its light green leaves with deep veins reach up to 45 cm into the sun thanks to the maroon and red stems. The dense stems of unusual colour not only hold the leaf but are also able to withstand strong gusts of wind and rain.
Flowering period: July
Height of the plant: 45-70 cm tall
Flower diameter: up to 5 cm
Colour: purple
The hosta is resistant to diseases and frost. The leaves retain their shape and colouring down to -29 °C, continuing their decorative function. Any time between March and November is suitable for planting. Choose shade or semi-shade, moist, drained soils. Watering should be present during the warmer seasons. However, it should be moderate, necessary only when the soil is completely dry.

How to Plant - Hosta Sorbet®
Guide and tips for planting Hosta Bare-Root Plants
-
Choose the planting location: Hosta plants prefer partial shade to full shade and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.
-
Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
-
Soak the Bare-Root Plants: Soak the Hosta Bare-Root Plants in water for at least an hour before planting. This will help to hydrate the roots and encourage healthy growth.
-
Dig a hole: Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the roots of the plant. The hole should be slightly wider than the spread of the roots.
-
Place the plant in the hole: Carefully remove the Hosta Bare-Root Plant from its packaging and gently spread out the roots. Place the plant in the hole and backfill with soil, making sure the crown of the plant, where the roots meet the stem, is level with the soil surface. Press down firmly to eliminate air pockets.
-
Water the plant: Give the plant a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the roots. Continue to water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist until the plant becomes established.
-
Mulch the plant: Add a layer of organic mulch around the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the plant to prevent rot.
-
Monitor the plant: Keep an eye on the plant's growth and water it regularly as needed. Hosta plants generally bloom in mid to late summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
