Hyacinthus orientalis 'Masquerade' is a captivating Dutch hyacinth prized for its rare, double-flowered spikes of soft peach-pink blossoms with delicate salmon undertones, adding a warm, tropical elegance to any garden. Its dense clusters of star-shaped, bell-like florets emit a sweet, lingering fragrance, making it ideal for planting near walkways or in containers where its scent can be enjoyed. The vibrant blooms contrast beautifully with its glossy, deep green foliage.
This variety grows to a height of 25–30 cm (10–12 inches) and blooms in mid spring (April–May), offering a stunning display for 2–3 weeks. 'Masquerade' is perfect for borders, rock gardens, or indoor forcing. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0. This frost-hardy perennial is deer and rodent resistant but should be handled with gloves due to potential skin irritation from bulb dust.
