Product Description - Hydrangea (Hortensia) Groundbreaker Greeny
Hydrangea (Hortensia) 'Greeny' is a refreshing and elegant deciduous shrub that brings a cool, modern aesthetic to any garden space with its densely packed, lime-green flower heads. The large, rounded panicles emerge a soft, creamy pistachio and retain their vibrant green hue throughout the season, offering a unique and contemporary alternative to traditional pink, blue, or white varieties. The tightly clustered florets create a rich, textural display that feels both lush and sophisticated, making it a highly sought-after focal point for minimalist landscapes, woodland borders, or long-lasting, fresh-cut floral arrangements.
This robust and relatively compact shrub typically reaches a manageable height of 100–120 cm (40–48 inches), forming a bushy, well-rounded habit. Its strong, sturdy stems effortlessly support the heavy flower heads, which can measure 15–20 cm in diameter, ensuring they remain proudly upright even after summer showers. Framed by serrated, dark green foliage, the striking blooms provide exceptional longevity. 'Greeny' thrives in partial shade to full sun, delivering a reliable, low-maintenance, and continuous floral show from mid-summer straight through to early autumn.

How to Plant - Hydrangea (Hortensia) Groundbreaker Greeny
Planting & Care Instructions
Hortensias feature elegant blooms that are ideal for borders, pots, and as stunning cut flowers. They are winter-hardy shrubs and, when planted in suitable conditions, will return and flower yearly.
- Planting time: Plant in autumn, from September to December. Hortensias generally bloom from June to September, providing beautiful summer color.
- Position & soil: Choose a position in part shade to full sun. Plant in moist, well-drained soil to ensure healthy root development.
- Planting depth & spacing: Dig a hole wide enough for the root system. Plant approximately 5–8 cm deep and space the plants 80–120 cm apart to allow them enough room to spread.
- Watering: Water once after planting to settle the soil well. During active growth, keep the soil just lightly moist, but avoid waterlogging.
- Growing in containers: Use large pots with drainage holes and a moist, well-drained potting mix. Container-grown hortensias may need more frequent watering during the blooming season.
- After flowering: You can leave the faded blooms on the plant through winter to provide frost protection for new buds, or trim them back depending on the variety's specific pruning needs.
- Returning each year: Because they are winter-hardy, hortensias will return yearly. With proper care and suitable conditions, they will grow into robust shrubs with abundant flowers each season.
