With a variety of striking colors and intricate patterns, they bring a burst of life and beauty wherever they bloom. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just starting your journey, the Iris Reticulata Collection offers an array of choices to suit your preferences and needs.
How to plant Iris Reticulata Collection?
Plant your Iris Reticulata Collection in potting mix with the top third of the bulb sticking up out of the soil. Place the pot near a bright window, where it can receive a lot of sunlight. When the bulb sprouts, begin watering regularly around the bulb. After sprouting, turn the pot regularly, because stalks will grow toward the sunlight.
Flowering Period
The Iris Reticulata Collection is celebrated for its early bloom, typically appearing in late winter to early spring. These charming irises are one of the first signs that winter is coming to an end, and the promise of spring is just around the corner. How to Plant - Iris Reticulata Collection
Planting & Care Instructions
Dutch irises are elegant spring- to early summer-flowering bulbs ideal for garden borders, pots and cut flower arrangements. For the best flowering results, choose a suitable location and follow the recommended planting depth for high-quality bulbs.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, before the ground freezes. Flowering time generally occurs from May to June.
- Position & soil: Choose a full sun position. Plant in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water tends to collect.
- Planting depth & spacing: Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards. For Dutch iris bulbs, size 8+ cm, plant approximately 8–10 cm deep and 8–10 cm apart.
- Watering: Water once after planting to settle the soil. Additional watering during autumn is usually unnecessary. Avoid waterlogged soil.
- Growing in containers: Use pots or balcony boxes with drainage holes and a well-drained potting mix. Bulbs can be planted slightly closer together than in garden beds.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but allow the foliage to remain until it naturally turns yellow and dies back. This allows the bulb to store energy for the following season.
- Returning each year: Dutch irises are winter-hardy perennials that can naturally return and bloom year after year when left in suitable growing conditions.
