Product Description - Lily (Lilium) Corsage

Lily (Lilium) Corsage

(Asiatic lily 'Corsage', Lilium 'Corsage'). New! This is a hybrid of the Asian lily group. It has delightful pastel pink petals with a creamy white centre and deep burgundy freckles, which are also concentrated in the centre of the flower. They are out-facing and resemble stars. It should be noted that this flower has no pollen, and is perfect for cutting or mass planting near footpaths. The Corsage lily blooms in early summer, usually 90 days after planting in the ground. The flowers are funnel-shaped, consisting of three petals and three sepals, which are very similar to each other. The flowers exude a light scent. The size of the flower is from 12 to 15 cm in diameter. Strong reliable stems, resistant to adverse weather conditions. Narrow leaves remain green throughout the growing season.

Appearance

Asian lilies have graceful flowers of various tones and do not offer special requirements for growing conditions. In this group, there are lilies of pure, bright colours, and variations of pastel tones, as well as two-tone and variegated ones. This is undoubtedly an advantage of many varieties of lilies that are readily cultivated in gardens and used as cut flowers. The lower varieties of 'Asians' are also used to fill containers. The Corsage lily belongs to the group of Asian hybrids, which are characterised by high resistance to soil and climatic conditions, including resistance to winter frost. This group includes species found in Asia that were later crossed with each other. Asian hybrids are characterised by early flowering. This group includes the lily hybrids that are most resistant to disease - therefore, they are highly valued by flower growers and are widely grown.

  • Flower diameter: 12-15 cm
  • Flower shape: funnel-shaped
  • Plant height: 90-100 cm

Lilies from this group bloom in late June and July, and are among the first to bloom. They prefer sunny positions, but also grow well in partial shade. The bulbs of this lily are planted in mid-spring or autumn before frost. Make sure that the lilies will grow in well-drained, fertile soils. In addition, any slightly acidic soils, including heavy clay soils, are suitable for this variety. The lily is very hardy. It is a reliable plant! It looks great in flower beds, borders, and bouquets. Looks better in groups of 3-5 (or more). Differs in very high frost resistance: withstands temperature drops down to -40 ° C. Needs support. The plant is 90-100 cm tall (although there are specimens higher).

Guide and tips for plantinglilium(lily) bulbs

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.

  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times deeper than the height of the bulb.

  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.

  • Place the bulb in the hole with the pointed end facing up.

  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb.

  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.

  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

  • Water the bulb regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.

  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.

  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
