Lily (Lilium) Eastern Moon
Lily (Lilium) Eastern Moon - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Lily (Lilium) Eastern Moon
(Trumpet Hybrid Lily 'Eastern Moon'). New! A fragrant lily with delicate flowers. It belongs to the group of Trumpet lilies (some mistakenly refer it to the group of OT hybrids). Flower appearance: creamy white petals, bordered by pink blush and with a golden-green mark in the centre. The bases of the petals (more precisely, the flower petals and sepals, which are very similar to each other) are firmly closed and form a tube. These lilies are one of the most fascinating garden flowers!
Appearance
The Eastern Moon lily is extremely robust and will grow to about 100-140 cm in height. The flowers reach up to 20 cm in diameter and "look" to the sides. Each flower has three petals and three sepals, with a satin texture, and with effectively twisted ends. The flowers appear at the top of a tall stem. They are collected in inflorescences of 20-25 pieces. The pollen is bright orange. The leaves are shiny, deep green in colour. This lily blooms from mid-July to August. The height of the plant is 90-120 cm.
- Plant height: up to 100-140 cm
- Flower diameter: up to 20 cm
Tubular lilies or tubular hybrids will fill the air with exquisite and exotic perfume that spreads for tens of metres. It should be noted that lilies are especially fragrant, to the point of dizziness, at night and early in the morning. This is the youngest group of hybrid lilies, which appeared in 1903 and is one of the most widely cultivated. It includes many varieties and hybrids obtained by crossing royal lilies with other species: L. regale, L. sargentiae, L. leucanthum, L. sulphureumoraz, L. henryi. They are characterised by high disease resistance, vigorous growth and abundant flowering. They have flowers, usually in the shape of a trumpet or funnel. The plants have very strong shoots that reach a height of 180 cm. Tubular hybrids grow best on soils with a pH of neutral to slightly alkaline, in a sunny to partial shade location. They require only light cover (leaves or straw) for the winter. In addition, such a cover can protect young shoots from spring frosts.
