Lilium Guinea Gold

This lily will be blooming in early summer. Not only can its flowers grace your garden, but they are also great for cutting. Its narrow leaves remain green throughout the season. Guinea Gold' tends to be long-legged. It will grow to a height of up to 120 cm. The flower stems can be weak and therefore may need to be supported.

Bulbs are planted in open areas or in excessively rich soils. It grows quickly and in ideal conditions you can expect it to enjoy its blooms for around 10 years. It grows best in full sun or semi-shade. Soil prefers medium moist soil, but will not tolerate standing water. It somewhat tolerates urban pollution. This plant can be propagated by multiplying underground bulbs. The plant is frost-resistant, withstanding temperatures as low as -45.6°C.

Guide and tips for plantinglilium(lily) bulbs

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.

  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times deeper than the height of the bulb.

  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.

  • Place the bulb in the hole with the pointed end facing up.

  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb.

  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.

  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

  • Water the bulb regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.

  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.

  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
