The name of the lily sounds in translation as "Pearl-white." And it lives up to its name.
Appearance
Lily Pearl White (Pearl White) is a classic Asian. It is solid. Very festive. Flowers can reach up to 15 cm in diameter and "look" up. Each flower has three petals and three sepals, which are very similar. Petals and sepals have a satin texture and spectacularly twisted ends. Flowers appear at the top of a tall stem. They are collected in inflorescences of several pieces. The leaves are thick, shiny, small, and rich green. This variety blooms early: from early to mid-summer. Blooms 95 days after planting. Differs in very high frost resistance: withstand temperatures to -40 ° C.
Polyploid varieties of lilies have appeared recently thanks to the efforts of breeders. The word "polyploid" is a specific term that indicates that the plant has more than the average amount of genetic information. Almost all true lilies have 24 chromosomes, which carry the genetic information for the plant. On a typical plant, one set of 12 chromosomes will be inherited from the female parent, and the other set of 12 chromosomes will be inherited from the male parent. A plant with two groups of genetic information is called diploid (24 chromosomes). A plant with more than 24 chromosomes is called polyploid (e.g., tetraploid).
Lily Pearl is ideal for growing in the background and creating borders. Looks beautiful in a cut. Great for planting in containers. Looks better in groups of 3-5 pieces. It goes well with the Pearl Loraine lily.
