Product Description - Lily (Lilium) Tawny
Lily (Lilium) ‘Tawny’ is a striking garden lily grown from bulbs, admired for its rich, dark purple-red colouring that adds depth and drama to summer plantings. The intense, velvety tone reads especially well beside silver foliage, fresh greens, and cool-toned companions, making it an easy choice for creating contrast in borders and statement containers. Used as a focal accent, it gives mixed plantings a more luxurious, contemporary finish without needing complicated colour matching.
The plant grows to a height of about 40–50 cm (16–20 inches) and produces large flowers with a diameter of about 15–20 cm (6–8 inches). Its bold blooms sit above neat foliage and bring a confident mid- to late-summer accent to mixed plantings, while the straight stems can also be used for cutting. ‘Tawny’ performs best in full sun to light partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil kept evenly moist during active growth, and the foliage should be allowed to die back naturally after flowering to recharge the bulb.
