Product Description - Phlox (paniculata) Dusterlohe selectie
Phlox paniculata 'Düsterlohe', a legendary selection by Karl Foerster from 1964, is a captivating tall garden phlox prized for its dense, conical clusters of deep violet-red to purplish-pink flowers with a small red eye, emitting a sweet, lingering fragrance. The wheel-shaped, tubular blooms, set against lush green foliage, create a striking display that attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. This robust perennial is renowned for its resistance to powdery mildew when grown with adequate moisture and air circulation.
Growing to a height of 100–110 cm (39–43 inches) with a spread of 60–90 cm (24–36 inches), 'Düsterlohe' blooms from early to late summer (July–September), offering a vibrant display for 6–8 weeks. Ideal for mixed borders, cottage gardens, or as a cut flower, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0. Hardy in USDA Zones 4–8, it benefits from annual fertilization and pruning weaker stems in spring for larger blooms.
