Kansas is one of the most famous herbaceous peonies, striking with its rich carmine-red color that does not fade in the sun. The large, densely double flowers have a wonderful structure – the petals are tightly gathered in a ball, reminiscent of a silk pillow. This variety is recognized as one of the best red peonies in the world, and even received an award from the American Peony Society.
The Kansas peony is perfect for garden compositions, borders, mixborders and cuttings. Its strong, thick stems hold large flowers well without the need for tying. The foliage is glossy, dark green, creating a contrasting background for the rich buds. Due to its bright color, this variety is ideal for mono- and mixed plantings, attracting attention at first sight.

How to Plant - Peony Kansas (Herbaceous)
Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs

Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.

Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.

Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.

Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.

Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.

Water the soil until it is evenly moist.

Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.

As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.

After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
