Product Description - Peony Moonrise (Herbaceous)

Peony Moonrise (Herbaceous)

The spectacular Moonrise peony will help to transform a garden, a green lawn outside the house or a flower bed. The simple, large flowers with their ivory oval petals may not seem surprising. But Moonrise is considered a very early flowering species, so the first buds can be seen as early as the end of April. The delicate flowers usually open in May but at times they can also bloom in June.

Presentation and scent
The delicate, rounded flowers are slightly corrugated and have bright yellow stamens in the centre. The yellow and white stamens give the flowers fullness and a delicate honeyed scent. The peony grows to a height of up to 1 m. Its dense stems are covered by dark green foliage which lasts until late autumn. Moonrise often releases lateral buds, lending lushness to the plant. The flowers can be admired in the garden or used as cut flowers.

Flower size: 15 cm;

Blossom time: May/June;

Height of the plant: 75-100 cm tall;

Colour: amory.

The flower does not need supports or frost protection. This species endures even the coldest winters. During hot weather the peony needs moderate watering and the wilted leaves should be removed in autumn. Otherwise, it is an undemanding plant.

How to Plant - Peony Moonrise (Herbaceous)

Peony Moonrise (Herbaceous)

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.

  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.

  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.

  • Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.

  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.

  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.

  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

  • Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.

  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.

  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
