Product Description - Raspberry Canby
Raspberry ‘Canby’ is a dependable summer-fruiting raspberry valued for its sweet, aromatic berries and generous harvests in early to mid-summer. The fruit is excellent for eating fresh, baking, jams, and freezing, and the canes are a great fit for kitchen gardens, allotments, and productive mixed borders. This variety is also appreciated for its generally easy picking and classic raspberry flavour, making it a favourite for home growing.
The canes typically grow to a height of 150–180 cm (59–71 inches) and produce crops on second-year canes (floricanes) in summer. Plant in a sunny to lightly shaded position in fertile, well-drained soil, improve the ground with compost, and provide a simple support system (wires or a trellis) to keep canes upright and airy. Water consistently during flowering and fruiting to improve berry size and quality, then mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. After harvest, cut out all canes that have fruited at ground level and tie in the new season’s canes to form next year’s crop.
