Product Description - Raspberry Glen Ample
Raspberry ‘Glen Ample’ is one of the most popular summer-fruiting raspberries, valued for its heavy crops of large, sweet berries and dependable garden performance. The fruit is excellent for eating fresh, desserts, jams, and freezing, and it’s also a great choice when you want plenty of berries for family use. The canes grow strongly and fruit generously, making this variety ideal for kitchen gardens, allotments, and productive berry rows. With regular picking, the harvest period stays long and the plants keep producing high-quality fruit.
The canes typically grow to a height of 180–200 cm (70–79 inches) and produce their main crop on second-year canes in summer. The berries are usually large and well-shaped with a good balance of sweetness and classic raspberry flavour, and they hold up well for short-term storage and home kitchen use. ‘Glen Ample’ performs best in a sunny to lightly shaded position in fertile, well-drained soil, and a simple wire support or trellis helps keep the canes upright and improves airflow. Water consistently during flowering and fruiting for the best berry size, mulch annually to conserve moisture, and after harvest remove the canes that have fruited at ground level while tying in the new canes for next year’s crop.
