About Red Currant ‘Jonker van Tets’ – Plants and Berries
Red Currant ‘Jonker van Tets’ is a high-yielding variety known for its large, bright red berries with a sweet-tart flavor. The berries ripen in mid-summer and are perfect for making jams, jellies, sauces, or enjoying fresh. This variety features a strong, bushy growth habit and glossy green leaves, making it an excellent choice for both ornamental and edible gardens. It also has good resistance to common currant diseases.
How to Plant Red Currant ‘Jonker van Tets’?
Plant in well-drained, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Choose a sunny or partially shaded location that receives at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily. Space plants 1.2–1.5 meters apart to allow for proper growth. Water regularly, ensuring the soil stays moist but not waterlogged.
