Product Description - Scilla Litardierei
The Scilla litardierei (also known as Scilla amethystina) is a refined and rare gem of the spring garden, captivating with its unique form. Unlike common wild squills with their nodding bells, this variety produces lush, upright, pyramidal flower spikes that resemble miniature hyacinths. Each sturdy stem carries 30 to 70 tiny, star-shaped flowers in a rich amethyst-blue or lavender-blue hue.
Standing just 15–20 cm tall, this late-blooming variety provides a long-lasting display throughout May and June. Its narrow, strap-like deep green leaves form a dense basal rosette, creating a lush carpet that perfectly highlights the striking blue flower spikes. Easy to grow, winter-hardy, and long-lived, Scilla litardierei is an ideal choice for rock gardens, path borders, or as a vibrant accent in spring containers.

How to Plant - Scilla Litardierei
Planting and care instructions
For best results, plant this category at the recommended depth and grow it in a suitable location.
- Planting: Plant in autumn in loose, well-drained soil. Place them 8 cm deep and 5–8 cm apart, with the pointed side up.
- Light & location: Grow in sun or partial shade.
- Watering: Water after planting and keep the soil lightly moist, but avoid waterlogging.
- After flowering: Let the foliage die back naturally after flowering so the plant can store energy for the next season.
- Feeding & care: When shoots appear, apply a bulb fertilizer or a balanced low-nitrogen feed; avoid excessive nitrogen.
- Useful tip: Leave plants undisturbed to naturalise; divide overcrowded clumps after the foliage has died back.
