Product Description - Tulip Fly Away
Among the many tulips with the classic bud shape, there are amazing varieties with flowers that resemble other ornamental plants. Such is the Fly Away variety with lily-like buds. The fiery flowers will bloom in spring in your flowerbed like a real firework.
Description
The homeland of tulips is the foothills of Asia and the Caucasus. The Persians were the first to cultivate them, noticing the elegant beauty of spring flowers, followed by the Turks, and 400 years ago tulips came to Europe, where breeders developed hundreds of different varieties, many shades and shapes. Today they are found in many gardens, planted in squares and parks.
Features
The lily-like tulip Fly Away is remarkable for its amazing flower shape. The bud is pointed upwards, the petals are curved. The flower resembles a lily, with red petals turning into juicy yellow at the edges. This variety has tall and weather-resistant peduncles. Flowering begins in early May. Lily-shaped tulips are quite rare in gardens and will pleasantly surprise anyone.Characteristics:
- colour - red, yellow;
- height - 50 cm;

Growing
Lily-like tulips make up no more than 3% of the total mass of tulips, but they are widely used in decorating flower beds and parks, placed at the forefront of the composition. The flowers look spectacular in bouquets. As a rule, these rare flowers are planted in uniform lines and groups, emphasising their exoticism.

How to Plant - Tulip Fly Away
Planting & Care Instructions
Tulips are hardy spring-flowering bulbs ideal for garden beds, borders, pots and balcony boxes. For the best flowering results, choose a suitable location and follow the recommended planting depth for each tulip type.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, before the ground becomes deeply frozen. Flowering time varies by type and variety, generally from March to May.
- Position & soil: Choose a sunny position or partial shade. Plant in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water tends to collect.
- Planting depth & spacing: Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards. For standard garden tulips, size 11/12 cm, plant approximately 10–15 cm deep and 10–12 cm apart. For botanical tulips, size 6/8 cm, plant approximately 8–10 cm deep and 8–10 cm apart.
- Watering: Water moderately after planting, especially when the soil is dry. Additional watering during autumn is usually unnecessary. Avoid waterlogged soil.
- Growing in containers: Use pots or balcony boxes with drainage holes and a well-drained potting mix. Bulbs can be planted slightly closer together than in garden beds.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but allow the foliage to remain until it naturally turns yellow and dies back. This allows the bulb to store energy for the following season.
- Returning each year: Botanical tulips are particularly suitable for naturalising and can multiply and flower for many years when conditions are suitable. Garden tulips may also return in following seasons, although flowering performance depends on the variety and growing conditions.
