Product Description - Tulip Lemon lce

Tulip Lemon lce

Tulip Lemon Ice is the true embodiment of spring freshness and elegance. Its name perfectly captures the impression of its blooming: the buds of this variety have a light lemon, almost pastel color, which gradually fades to creamy white over time. This smooth color transition creates an effect of a light mist or frosty glaze on the petals — giving the variety its distinctive charm.

The flower has a classic cup shape, with dense, smooth petals that are slightly pointed. The tall, sturdy flower stems allow Lemon Ice to stand firm even in windy or rainy weather, maintaining its aesthetic perfection. This variety is ideal for creating calm, elegant floral compositions and harmonizes beautifully with brighter spring flowers — such as tulips in rich colors, daffodils, muscari, or anemones.

Lemon Ice is undemanding in cultivation, frost-resistant (down to -25°C), and grows well both in open ground and in containers. It prefers sunny or slightly shaded areas with fertile, light soil. Perfect for cutting — the flowers stay fresh for a long time in a vase, gradually opening and gaining tenderness.

How to Plant - Tulip Lemon lce

Planting & Care Instructions

Tulips are hardy spring-flowering bulbs ideal for garden beds, borders, pots and balcony boxes. For the best flowering results, choose a suitable location and follow the recommended planting depth for each tulip type.

  • Planting time: Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, before the ground becomes deeply frozen. Flowering time varies by type and variety, generally from March to May.
  • Position & soil: Choose a sunny position or partial shade. Plant in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water tends to collect.
  • Planting depth & spacing: Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards. For standard garden tulips, size 11/12 cm, plant approximately 10–15 cm deep and 10–12 cm apart. For botanical tulips, size 6/8 cm, plant approximately 8–10 cm deep and 8–10 cm apart.
  • Watering: Water moderately after planting, especially when the soil is dry. Additional watering during autumn is usually unnecessary. Avoid waterlogged soil.
  • Growing in containers: Use pots or balcony boxes with drainage holes and a well-drained potting mix. Bulbs can be planted slightly closer together than in garden beds.
  • After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but allow the foliage to remain until it naturally turns yellow and dies back. This allows the bulb to store energy for the following season.
  • Returning each year: Botanical tulips are particularly suitable for naturalising and can multiply and flower for many years when conditions are suitable. Garden tulips may also return in following seasons, although flowering performance depends on the variety and growing conditions.
